Connecting African Talent with Global Opportunities

Nexus connects skilled African youth with U.S. based small businesses and startups.

Reimagining job opportunity

Nexus is a social enterprise that provides paid internships for skilled African youth by connecting them with U.S. based small businesses for employment based on microcredentials and projects -not traditional college diplomas.

Hire
for Skills

Traditional hiring practices often require a four-year degree, limiting opportunities. Nexus changes that by focusing on skills, not just degrees, for more competitive businesses and greater economic mobility.

How it wrks

How It Works

1.

Skills-Based Matching

We connect U.S. businesses with African talent based on specific skills. Nexus partners with universities across Africa, bootcamps, and venture accelerators to find skilled African youth to support U.S. small businesses. This approach focuses on matching specific project needs with candidates' demonstrated skills, bypassing traditional degree requirements and ensuring that talent is prioritized over the traditional four-year diploma.

2.

Microcredential Validation

We validate skills through recognized microcredentials and portfolios. Candidates showcase their abilities through microcredentials and project portfolios, which serve as proof of their skills and experiences. This validation process allows businesses to assess talent effectively, ensuring that they hire individuals who can meet their specific demands, providing a leveling ground for skilled individuals with talent.

3.

Project-Based Hiring

Nexus facilitates project-based hiring, enabling U.S. businesses to engage African talent for internships or short-term projects. This model reduces the risk for employers while providing valuable work experience for candidates, ultimately leading to potential long-term employment opportunities based on performance.

4.

Cultural and Business Training

To enhance collaboration, Nexus offers cultural and business training for African talent. This training fosters mutual understanding and effective communication, ensuring that remote teams can work seamlessly together while appreciating other's cultural backgrounds and business practices.
